Certified Nursing Assistant 1

This course consists of 24 modules developed to aid learning. Each module has a list of behavioral concepts, principles, and procedures. It consists of fifty (50) hours of classroom instructions, forty one (41) hours of supervised lab and twenty four (24) hours of supervised clinical practices. During these classroom/lab/clinical instructions, students’ knowledge and skills will periodically be assessed. Upon successful completion of the course, the student is eligible for the Nurse Aide Testing and Competency Evaluation

Certified Nursing Assistant 2

The Nurse Aide II program consists of 93 clock hours of classroom instructions and 87 hours of supervised clinical instructions in the classroom and nursing home. The course duration is six weeks. Students will first receive three (3) weeks of classroom instruction followed by the next three weeks of lab and clinical instructions in an approved facility. This will be consistent with the legal scope of practice as defined by the Board of Nursing. It will prepare graduates to perform complex skills. A skill/competency will be used for documenting student competency. Upon satisfactory completion of the course and skill/competency evaluation, the graduate is eligible for listing as a Nurse Aide II by the NC Board of Nursing.

Phlebotomy Technician

Phlebotomy Technician

Phlebotomy training prepares the student to draw blood specimens from patients by venipuncture and micro-collection techniques,for the purpose of testing and analyzing blood, aswell as facilitating the collection and transportation of other clinical laboratory specimens. A Phlebotomy Technician’s job includes maintenance of equipment used in obtaining specimen; the care of blood specimen, documentation process (data entry or clerical record keeping); and good communication skills when working with patients.

This course consists of 40 hours of classroom instructions, 23 hours of lab, and 33 hours of clinical practices at a health care facility.

Upon completion of the course, the student is eligible for testing by National Health Career Association (NHA).

Electrocardiagraph Technician

Electrocardiagraph Technician

EKG Technician training prepares the student to perform electrocardiogram tests to monitor and record the electrical impulses of the heart. These tests, which include basic EKG’s as well as treadmill stress tests, 24 hour monitoring, and 12 lead placement procedures, assist a physician in diagnosing and treating cardiac and blood vessel irregularities.

This course of 30 hours of classroom instructions, and 18 hours of supervised lab/clinical practices.  EKG technicians are in demand to work in hospitals, physicians’ offices, and other health care facilities. 

Upon completion of the course, the student is eligible for testing by National Health-career Association (NHA)

Medication Administration

Medication Administration

This course is designed to prepare students to give medication in Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, Group Homes, Family Care Homes, Schools, etc. Upon successful completion of the 24 hour course approved by the state, the student is eligible to take the NC State Medication Aide Examination offered by Pearson V or the Division of Facility Services

Clinical Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant course prepares students to perform clinical duties. Upon graduation,  they will be able to prepare patients and assist with physical examinations,  specialized nursing skills, perform electrocardiogram, venipuncture, and documenr patient’s information. This course consists of 208 hours of classroom instructions, and 214 hours of lab/clinical practices in a health care facility.
